Great mirroring ability and fluid hips.

Aggressive in man and in press. Good hand fighting.

Great instincts in zone coverage. Disciplined eyes.

Great length.

Decent tackling form but would like to see more aggressiveness in the run game.

Likely cast as a press and outside corner mainly, but is very good at it.

Ahmad Gardner is the number one corner for the Cincinnati Bearcats and he looks and plays the part very well. He has a great frame and athletic profile, with awesome length, fluid hips and good change of direction ability and speed. In man coverage, he is great at mirroring his receiver and is aggressive with his hand fighting and playing the ball. Gardner is even more talented in zone coverage. His aggressiveness, instincts and disciplined eyes allow him to provide coverage or use his acceleration to jump in for a pass break up. The biggest inconsistencies in his game is his run defending. I would like to see him be more aggressive in the run game and come downhill sooner. His tackling form is good though. Gardner has the athletic profile and intelligence to be a day one starting corner in the NFL. While he fits best in a zone scheme, he can work well in a man scheme and might be best utilized in press.
