Dobbins has an elite level of athleticism that translates into multiple aspects of his game. After being undervalued a majority of the season, his performance against Penn State rose his draft stock greatly. Dobbins has very good vision that, alongside his quick acceleration, allows him to hit the holes with great speed and find yards on a greater majority of his carries. He plays the position of running back with great explosiveness, and with his dual threat ability, he will likely be a three down back. He shows impressive hands out of the backfield with surprising route running.
Dobbins has a lot of good traits, but within those traits, there are hidden concerns. Dobbins, although a downfield runner, did show lack of stamina towards the end of his runs. Although not a major concern, it will be something to look for at the next level. Another thing I found within his game is that although a talented receiving back, he did show many concentration drops out of the backfield on easy passes. Dobbins struggles with being able to recognize the blitz from the outside, which will limit his upside as a blocker in the NFL.
Games Watched: Penn State (2019), Wisconsin (2019), Clemson (2019)
J.K. Dobbins is a very good all around running back with a lot to offer a team. Watching his film was very fun, and after he started the season as a top back, he found himself as a low end name in the running back class. After his big games towards the end of the season, he has found himself as my RB2. He is a player with three down back potential, and is scheme versatile due to his ability to run up the middle, bounce outside, and get the ball in his hands out of the backfield. Although a first round talent, the falling value of running backs as a whole means he will likely be a second round draft pick.
Best Fits: Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans
