Mirroring – Patience and athleticism serve him well here, receivers rarely get beyond him.
Man Coverage – Clearly his best trait, should translate well as a press man corner in the NFL.
Physicality – Plays through contact well, tackling power is excellent for a CB, attacks receivers’ hands well.
Ball Skills – Hand timing is great, which leads to a lot of PBUs, doesn’t attack the ball for INTs as much but I don’t mind that.
Has a “you can’t beat me, no matter what I do” attitude, which, to be fair, is true. Worry it might get him in trouble early on in his NFL career.
Zone Coverage – Not bad but not as good as his man skills, would rather put him on an island; telegraphs his zone reps just a touch.
Games Watched: Indiana (2019), Michigan State (2019), Clemson (2019)
Okudah is the best corner prospect this side of Marshon Lattimore, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. The junior will step in as a #1 corner anywhere he goes in the NFL, with the ability to shadow a team’s best receiver to great results from day 1. A team that runs a ton of man coverage is his best fit, but I wouldn’t worry if he ends up in zone either. He’s someone you scheme your defense around, not try to fit into the defense you already have.
Best Fits: Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons
