The stage has been set as Spencer Rattler has taken over for Jalen Hurts as the new Sooners starting QB. The past three Oklahoma QBs have finished in the top three in Heisman voting and two, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield have won it. The Oklahoma Sooners nabbed one of the best high school football recruits in the nation and a TV star on the show QB1 in Pinnacle high school’s Spencer Rattler. Rattler was a star on TV and the field, Rattler was the first QB in Arizona high school football history to pass for 11,000 yards. He was a perfect fit for Oklahoma and I was ecstatic when he chose the Sooners out of high school.

Rattler has all of the tools to succeed. He is an extremely accurate passer. He can deliver a powerful dot of a throw on his back foot. Rattler is a leader who can get an offense to rally around him in critical playing situations. He has the ability to dissect and pick apart an opposing defense outside of the pocket. Rattler was suspended in high school for an infraction but that hardly limits the insane ceiling Rattler has. With QB guru Lincoln Riley whispering in his ear, I believe Rattler will finish in the top four and make the trip to New York City to receive a Heisman trophy in 2020 potentially.  Rattler has stiff competition that includes Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Chuba Hubbard, and Justin Fields. It is normally a quarterback award so that is good for Rattler as he has an advantage over Hubbard and Etienne.
