Johnon is a versatile athlete that has absolutely blazing speed. He was a huge part of the offense last season, being targeted on 25.45% of all pass attempts. A slippery runner, Johnson was All-MAC at WR, KR, and PR. Johnson knows how to get open and isn’t afraid of contact. He’ll at the bare minimum be a player that you can put the ball in his hands and expect him to make a play as a gadget player.
A smaller frame, Johnson might not hold up great when getting hit by NFL defenders. He’s had his fair share of drops but he’s improved as time goes on. Johnson doesn’t always show a ton of effort when he’s blocking or when he’s trying to sell that he’s running a route on a run play or when the play is going to the other side.
Johnson is an player that has a ton of potential and athletic ability. Although he isn’t a polished route runner, he knows how to get open just by being more athletic than defenders. Versatility alone should get Johnson drafted, but given how talented he is all over the field and the potential that he has, he could be a mid-early pick if he has another strong campaign in 2018-19. Bulking up 5-10 pounds shouldn’t hurt his speed much and could improve his ability to fight for more yards.
